LEYA History

How we began…

Leeds Early Years Association began its life as a playgroup, established, by a group of women (mothers) in 1981. Then named St Michael’s Preschool, the Preschool was housed in the church hall of St Michael’s and All Angels Church in central Headingley

In 2005 in order to meet the demand for quality preschool education in the Headingley area the preschool moved to bigger premises in the grounds of Shire Oak Primary School. It was then that we changed our name to Headingley Preschool.

Today we operate from 2 sites, offering full daycare to children aged from 24 months to school age. We adopted the name Leeds Early Years Association in 2019, to reflect our growth in the Headingley and Meanwood communities, and beyond! We continue to grow and remain committed to providing affordable childcare in a caring, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
