Headingley Preschool is located in the grounds of Shire Oak Primary School in central Headingley. This setting boasts an open plan classroom style provision, an enormous natural outdoor area, strong partnerships with Shire Oak Primary School and Headingley Children’s Centre. We are open 9am- 3pm 39 weeks a year (term time only) and children can attend preschool from 30 months old. We are over the moon to announce that Headingley Preschool was judged Outstanding by Ofsted in June 2017.
At Headingley Preschool we understand that there is no ‘one size fits all’ education and we pride ourselves in empowering all our children to be individuals. Our experienced and qualified practitioners are able to tailor the children’s program of education to their personal learning styles. This method of teaching ensures that the children make excellent progress during their time with us. We are proud to offer an education that celebrates children’s diversity and individualism.
Headingley Preschool draws from the Reggio Emilia Approach to learning, which is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood education, which values the child as a strong, capable and resilient learner; rich with wonder, motivation and knowledge. The approach understands that every child brings with them a deep curiosity and potential. It is this innate curiosity that drives the children’s interests and gives them the ability to understand their world and their place within it. We support children to extend and inspire their own learning experiences by working collaboratively with caring and supportive adults who understand how to develop their skills and understanding.
